Quick Proven Remedies For Heartburn Relief
|
Heartburn is a difficulty that no one likes to encounter at any time. It is generally experienced by eating the wrong type of food. And unfortunately, many people who seek pain relief for their heartburn are generally looking for quick-fix solutions so that they can continue with the same type of eating habits as before.
While there are a variety of home remedies which have been reported to relieve heartburn (including such things as drinking a small amount of apple cider vinegar in water, and even eating raw almonds) many of these approaches are not based on proven solutions for resolving heartburn. These remedies are often based on trial and error attempts to provide heartburn relief.
There are several proven solutions for obtaining heartburn relief. In fact, these solutions have produced three classes of medication used to treat heartburn symptoms: antacids, alginates and H2 blockers. While these solutions are successful to varying degrees, much is determined by the individual’s particular body chemistry and the nature of his problem.
Antacids
Antacids are the fastest solution for heartburn since they balance the acid buildup in the digestive tract and stomach. This solution can only provide immediate relief and would have to be taken each time one experiences heartburn. However, if you (or any other person) only experienced heartburn once (or once in a blue moon) antacids will work perfectly. Just make sure that you buy some at your local drug store and always bring them along with you.
Alginates
Alginates are to be taken before excessive eating and drinking; their effective pain relieving actions may last up to 4-5 hours. Alginates provide relief by forming a protective coating in the stomach which helps keep food from backing up in the esophagus which creates symptoms of heartburn.
Histamine-2 Blocker (H-2) Relief for Heartburn
H-2 blockers can help protect one from heartburn symptoms for up to twelve hours. Heartburn is often created by particular foods or drinks which can increase histamine levels. These histamine levels are responsible for dictating the amount of acid in our stomachs. H-2 blockers prevent the increase of histamine levels which helps to lower the amount of acid in our stomachs.
Do keep in mind that this process takes a longer time than alginates and antacids before it has any effect so make sure to take it at least 6 hours before going on any eating spree to make sure that it will take effect.
All of these solutions work, however you should choose the one that best suits your personal situation. Like all remedies, these solutions have a different effect on each individual. Consequently, you need to carefully choose the most effective solution for you in order to prevent any heartburn problems in the future.
