How Does Acid Reflux Affect Your Gall Bladder?

by M B Beam

As you will soon see there is a very close association in relation to the problem of Acid Reflux and your gall bladder. It is important to remember that the bile, which is stored in your gall bladder, is what causes the symptoms associated with Acid Reflux. This is because the gall bladder as become weakened and so the acids that make up the bile are able to gain access into your esophagus. However, before we take a look at ways to treat Acid Reflux and gall bladder problems let us provide you with some information on what this part of the body is.

It is a small sack (pear shaped) that is to be found between the lobes of the liver directly below them. Within this there is a small duct (y shaped) which is the common bile duct and it is this that carries bile from the liver and gall bladder into a person’s small intestines.

When we eat food the fats contained within them are taken into a person’s digestive system and a hormone is released. When this hormone is released the gall bladder then releases bile (that the liver has produced) and it works on digesting the fats you have consumed. This then allows the necessary nutrients within the fats to be broken down and so that they can pass through the intestinal wall into your bloodstream. These are then passed onto the cells within your body and which help your body to function correctly.

The problem is that if the valve in your gall bladder is not function correctly then this will result in a burning sensation in ones chest or throat. Although most mild forms of this condition commonly known as heartburn can be treated using antacid medications. For some people their condition becomes far worse and they begin to suffer with Acid Reflux instead.

As mentioned those whose Acid Reflux is only mild generally find that using antacid medications helps to relieve the symptoms associated with this condition. But if you choose to ignore the problem then you may well find that you will have to go to your doctor and be prescribed with a much stronger type of medication instead. However, antacids are successful in a large number of cases because they help to neutralize the acids that the body is producing. This in turn means that a person is far less likely to experience the painful and certainly uncomfortable symptoms that one associates with Acid Reflux.

If antacids are proving to be ineffective at treating the problem, then you may well discover that your doctor chooses to prescribe a course of histamine antagonists instead. These work in much the same way as antacid medications do but contain far more powerful ingredients within them. Not only do they help to relieve the symptoms of Acid Reflux much more quickly, but also ensure that they symptoms remain away for much longer.

But along with the medications you can buy over the counter or which your doctor prescribes some people prefer to use more natural remedies as well. The main reason for them doing this is because they are much less expensive to purchase, and they actually feel that they are a lot safer to use as well.

When it comes to treating problems of Acid Reflux and your gall bladder it is best that you speak with your doctor first. By doing this they will actually be able to help you to determine just what is the best course of treatment for your condition and so which will provide you with the right results.
